Concentrating on residential projects for me

Posted on February 6th, 2006 in Crestron,installing,ISE,whole-house video by ernohannink, (Visited 20845 times)

articlespic20060206 02 02 Concentrating on residential projects for meThere can be little doubt that the residential install market is set to grow significantly over the coming years. Up until now, custom install and home automation has been almost exclusively concerned with the high-end of the residential market – but that is changing. Property developers, house builders and forward thinking home-owners are all waking up to the benefits of what might be called the ‘digital lifestyle‘. In fact, the market is expanding on all fronts – from the consumer looking for a simple ‘out-of-the-box’ home cinema system to the well-heeled businessperson realising their dream of a completely automated home.

For those bold and willing enough to make the commitment, the residential market also represents a great opportunity for the commercial installer. However, simply applying commercial market expertise to the residential arena will not be enough to guarantee success. Selling into the residential market requires a change of emphasis and approach in order to reap maximum reward.
Erno: “This is where the niche is for the installers, the large commercial installers will need some time to switch, or maybe they may never will.

Creston new product range on ISE

Posted on February 5th, 2006 in Crestron,ISE by ernohannink, (Visited 12473 times)

audio distribution Creston new product range on ISECrestron has unveiled several new automation products at the ISE in Brussels. And I had a chance to see it. Yes!

They include new lighting control system a fully expandable entry-level multi-room audio system, as well as the new TPMC (Touch Panel Media Centre) series which integrates touchpanel control with embedded PC functionality.

Among the new range is the iLux CLS-C6 integrated zoned lighting system which can control six lighting zones and 6 groups of blinds or curtains. Crestron claim that the iLux CLS-C6 ican be used for either a new house or retrofit application. It can also be used to replace numerous switches and dimmers on the wall avoiding the confusion of which switch activates which light fittings. It completely centralises the lighting, blind and screen controls so that users no longer need to search for the right switch plate or fumble through trial and error to find the right combination of light settings. The iLux CLS-C6 enables user-preset lighting scenes.

Gefen’s all-fiber DVI and HDMI cables for shielded HD Video Play

Posted on February 1st, 2006 in Gefen,ISE,Shows,whole-house video by ernohannink, (Visited 14683 times)

hdtvextreme3 Gefens all fiber DVI and HDMI cables for shielded HD Video Play
In heavily populated electronics environments, most HD devices are subject to electromagnetic interference (EMI) that can corrupt data and slow down information processing–hardly ideal for cutting-edge industrial, government and medical industries, but also affecting even the humble office or studio.

Gefen‘s new DVI and HDMI All-Fiber cables solve the problem by supplying all-fiber components bundled in a durable cable that protects data during its travels from source to HD display, resulting in brilliant, uncorrupted imagery on the receiving end, even when extended hundreds of feet in length.

KEF new Custom Installation speaker Ci9000ACE

Posted on January 11th, 2006 in Custom install,Kef by ernohannink, (Visited 12667 times)

kef newspic20060109 02 02 KEF new Custom Installation speaker Ci9000ACEKEF’s new Custom Installation Series flagship model Ci9000ACE brings the company’s patented ACE technology to in-wall speaker systems.

Utilizing 165 mm MF and 19mm HF drivers mounted in a Uni-Q array and two 165 mm LF units in a sealed enclosure, the Ci9000ACE provides outstanding sound quality, with notably extended frequency response from the LF units, thanks to ACE technology. The proud brushed aluminium front baffle comes supplied with three grille options; white grille assembly overhanging front baffle, black grille assembly inset from front baffle and paint-able white steel grille overhanging front baffle. Suggested retail price is expected to be around £600 (EUR 880) each.

The in-wall Ci Series 9000ACE from KEF is a innovative new advance into custom installed loudspeakers. The 165mm (61⁄2″) Uni-Q® driver array brings out the full emotional depth and texture of vocals, whether sung, shouted, spoken or whispered – hardly surprising, since it’s exactly the same unit as you’ll find on the XQ series. On either side, a matching pair of long throw bass drivers with ultra-low distortion motors for low frequency response that’s as lucid as it is gutsy – and thanks to KEF’s Acoustic Compliance Enhancement technology, (ACE) what you actually hear is a level of bass extension that’s normally only obtainable with much larger speakers.

Your DVDs in all your rooms,

Posted on January 10th, 2006 in CES2006,Media Servers,whole-house video by ernohannink, (Visited 15012 times)

Kaleidescape Experience Your DVDs in all your rooms, Media servers were popular last week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Media server are computers with a lot of storage that are connected to a home network so consumers can gather movies, music, and pictures in one place and play them back on any machine connected to the network. Unlike Media Center systems with photo, music, and DVR capabilities, these systems only store DVD content for playback through a home theater, although music support is expected later in 2006.

Kaleidescape of Mountain View was showing off a mother of a media server at CES. This Kaleidescape has 5.5 terabytes of storage on 12 disk drives. That’s enough to store 7,500 CDs or 825 DVDs.
